It has been a bumpy ride for the freight market this month. The Capesize sector saw its largest drop ever in one day. Despite this reduction, the period market remained firm and the sale and purchase market did not get too affected by this recent drop and prevailed through.

Sale And Purchase Tankers June
Frontline have reportedly bought a total of 5 double hull Suezmaxes from Messrs Top Ships in addition to taking over time charter contracts for a further five units from Eiger shipping, a move that more than double the company?s Suezmax exposure.
Secondhand prices keep climbing sharply for crude carriers which were confirmed by the recent sale of Anangel Shipping?s m/t Astro Capricorn for $203 million to Chinese interests. Last comparable sale was the G. Elephant (300K/2006 NACKS) which was reported sold last month at $170 million.
